VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 17, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Federal public service employees represented by the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC), the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) and the Professional Institute of the Public Service of Canada (PIPSC) will rally in downtown Vancouver on October 18, 2017 to pressure officials into repairing the troubled Phoenix pay system once and for all.

Since the new payroll system was rolled out in February 2016, more than half of federal public servants have experienced ongoing pay problems, including being underpaid, overpaid or not paid at all. The Liberal government had pledged to fix the problem for good by the end of October 2016, but it has missed its self-imposed deadline.
