Christine Stoner-Mertz has resigned as President/CEO of Lincoln after 13 years.

OAKLAND, CA, UNITED STATES, December 11, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Lincoln, a nonprofit serving children and families and headquartered in Oakland, announced today that Christine Stoner-Mertz has resigned as President/CEO, and the Board is recommending Allison Staulcup Becwar, previously Chief Program Officer, as the organization’s Interim President/CEO.

"Chris has been an exceptional CEO and leader of Lincoln. During her tenure she has forged important initiatives and relationships with many community leaders, public officials, and partners working towards our collective goals of improving outcomes for children and families in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties,” said David de Figueiredo, Chair of the Board of Directors.

"During her 13 year tenure, Chris has played a critical role in the development and success of the organization, nearly doubling Lincoln’s budget and professional staff. She will be greatly missed by the staff, Board, supporters, and partners alike."

Stoner-Mertz will be leaving Lincoln to serve as the Executive Director of the California Alliance of Child and Family Services. She will be transitioning through February, with her last day being February 28, 2019. "My last thirteen years with Lincoln have been some of the best years of my professional life, and I will certainly miss working with the talented and dedicated staff, Board, supporters, friends and partners associated with the organization," says Stoner-Mertz. "I am very proud of the tremendous growth, accomplishments, and impact that Lincoln has achieved during this amazing and transformational period in its long history."

"Even though my career is changing direction, my commitment to supporting and creating solutions to disrupt cycles of poverty, trauma, and inequity for children and families in our communities will passionately continue."

The Executive Committee of the Board has recommended to the full Board of Directors that Becwar be named Interim President/CEO while conducting a process for identifying the new CEO. "I am deeply honored to be chosen to lead Lincoln during this time of transition and change," said Becwar. "We cannot thank Chris enough for the dedication, passion, and enthusiasm that she has given Lincoln. She will be missed, we want to wish her all the best as she enters a new stage in her career.”

"Her vision helped bring Lincoln into a new era," Becwar continues. "I am confident in our staff and board as we steadily move forward at this juncture of growth and opportunity."

Founded in 1883 as the first racially integrated orphanage in Northern California, our mission remains timeless: Lincoln disrupts the cycle of poverty and trauma, empowering children and families to build strong futures. Today, Lincoln impacts more than 27,000 children and their families in the most underserved communities of the greater San Francisco Bay Area through educational engagement, family strengthening, and well-being programs.
