Fostering Dialogue on Climate Finance Among Asian Central Banks: Issues in Disclosure and Reserve Management

Time of Event

08:45–17:15 (Hong Kong, China time)

Summary

This roundtable is part of the ADBI-ADB Asian Climate Finance Dialogue project and will provide an opportunity to discuss climate disclosure with central bankers from the region, raise their awareness on the importance of climate disclosure to scale up climate finance, and promote the project.  The roundtable will help improve climate disclosure and supervisory/regulatory approaches by learning from each jurisdiction’s approaches and experiences. This will help improve climate risk management and the ability to respond to the climate emergency.

The roundtable will gather a small group of high-level representatives. It will include presentations, and each jurisdiction’s central bank’s representative will share information about its rules and practices. Specific topics to be covered include recent trends in global disclosure standards and approaches for banks’ financed emissions, measuring financed emissions, the incorporation of sustainability considerations into reserve management, and green bonds in reserve management.
